Team Tressel Fitness Challenge Kicks Off at Orchard STEAM School

Team Tressel Fitness Challenge Kicks Off at Orchard STEAM School

Orchard STEAM School welcomed a high-energy visit today from Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and NFL legend Ted Ginn Jr. to officially launch the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, a statewide initiative aimed at helping students in grades 4–8 build lifelong healthy habits.

The challenge, part of Governor Mike DeWine’s broader health initiative, encourages students to set personal goals in three key areas: fitness, nutrition, and sleep. Students will progress through bronze, silver, and gold levels over a 90-day period.

“We are healthier when we eat better and develop healthy sleep habits, giving us a greater chance to reach our full potential,” said Lt. Governor Tressel, who coached The Ohio State Football Team for 10 seasons.

During the launch event, Ted Ginn Jr., a Glenville High School Football standout, led students in fun exercises like jumping jacks, push-ups, and toe touches. Lt. Governor Tressel inspired scholars to “pick a goal and achieve it,” emphasizing how a healthy lifestyle can help students feel better and do better in school.

Orchard is just one of over 600 schools participating in this challenge statewide.

The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge officially begins September 8th.
